Creative Ways to Donate:
- Collect the spare change around your house and donate it! You can take it to a coin counting machine...or simply bring it to us. We're happy to roll it!
-Host a basketball or football game party to watch the Tar Heels (or your favorite sports team)! Challenge everyone to donate a quarter for every basket or field goal scored by the Heels! Place a container in the middle of the floor or table and encourage everyone to “make a basket” or “field goal” with their change.
-Get an empty bottle or clear flower vase and put it on your desk at work, in your dorm room or in your living room at home. Ask people to put their spare change in when visiting!
-If you are a member of a Greek organization, church group, sports team or other group…challenge another group to a “Change Poverty” Drive. See which organization can collect the most change!
-Does your organization hold a special event? Ask attendees to donate the spare change in their pockets or wallets as ‘admission’. Put a large clear container outside the event so everyone can see just how much spare change was collected.
- Kids: host a neighborhood bake sale, lemonade/ hot cocoa stand, dog washing event, or Parents Night Out (and babysit the neighborhood youngsters) with proceeds going to Real Change from Spare Change.
--Groups can host a Bake Off or Chili Cook Off; participants pay an entrance fee and tasters pay a fee. Winners get the glory, tasters get fed and Real Change from Spare Change gets funding for street outreach!
-Hold a yard sale and donate the money to Real Change from Spare Change! Enlist your kids help to clean out closets, attics and under beds. Teach them that once loved toys and books can generate money that goes a long way to helping homeless children get off the street and into homes!
